National Youth Affairs Research Scheme (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations)

CIRCA worked in partnership with the Inspire Foundation and Dr Ariadne Vromen from Sydney University to examine the extent to which young people from diverse backgrounds are involved in participatory decision making, barriers that prevent their participation and factors that lead to effective engagement of diverse young people in government and community decision making processes.

Australian Electoral Commission (AEC):

CIRCA conducted qualitative research to explore attitudes towards voting in CALD communities, and community needs around receiving information about the 2007 Federal Election. This was used in the development of a campaign aimed at increasing the number of people from CALD backgrounds voting, and to limit the extent of informal voting. CIRCA also conducted concept testing of AEC messages in 26 languages as a part of this developmental research.

Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing – NSW and QLD:
CIRCA has recently been involved in conducting two large-scale, CALD needs analyses of problem gambling help services in NSW and QLD. In each of these studies, the NSW and QLD state governments have been keen to understand how to improve problem gambling help services for culturally and linguistically diverse audiences. This research has followed on from CIRCA’s experience in conducting a similar CALD needs analysis in VIC several years ago of local gambling help service provision.
